Bird Box Dance Bill Blindfold
Can I borrow that blindfold?

The Bank Account

Back when I was a wife, my then-husband and I would argue about a host of things during our marriage (as do most couples). Whose turn it was to take out the trash, why he couldn’t go surfing at that moment (we had other commitments – I’m not a shrew), and all the typical stuff that comedians make fun of. Our bank account balance was a frequent topic of conversation as well. You see, I was in charge of the bills, and he was in charge of complaining about why he couldn’t buy a new samurai sword (despite not being an actual samurai, and actually owning one already).

When the girls were five years old, their dance studio owned invited them to audition for the competition team. Being a former dance coach/choreographer myself, it was a milestone that I had envisioned since I learned of my pregnancy. I was overcome with joy and pride. Predictably, my then-husband asked, “How much is this going to cost?”

An Investment or a Waste?

How much, indeed! As the cost of tuition, costumes, master classes, rehearsals, competitions, conventions, and intensives began to rise, so did my anxiety. I knew that, eventually, my then-husband would raise the issue with me. Personally, I regarded it as an investment into our girls’ futures. He, however, did not share my perspective.

Long story short, we are now divorced. One of the provisions of our agreement is that he pays nothing for dance, because he claims he was 100% against my enrolling them in the first place (untrue, if you’re curious).

So now, when I get the dance bill, I feel like Sandra Bullock here in Bird Box. Maybe if I blindfold myself, the evil dance bill won’t find me…

To make a little extra cash to pay the bills, I’m willing to do (almost) anything (check out She Works Hard for the Money)!

My First Meme

Imagine it, if you will…January 15, 2019…Danielle finds an online meme maker shortly after logging into her girls’ dance account. What came next would set her (that’s me, if you haven’t gotten it by now) on a new path that would allow her to fuse her insight as a dance mom with her penchant for sarcasm.

In other words, this was the first meme I ever created! I put it on my Facebook page that day, and it has since reached over 17,000 people (and been shared 75 times). The original version lacked the red “The Dancing Dance Mom” text box, so you may have seen it in its naked form, lol.

If you like it, please SHARE it (I’m all about sharing now, being a changed woman since kindergarten)! And of course, I’d love to hear your comments on it. For more, click on The Memes! section on the home page. Thank you!
