Don’t worry, I slowed down
Listen, I love my kids – we all do! But being stuck inside with them for about three thousand months is too much for even the most dedicated parent to take. Between homeschooling, meals (and can I just say – OH MY LORD! I had no IDEA how much and how often they eat when they’re home), and virtual extracurricular stuff, I was beginning to feel like my kids were no longer separate people from me. Rather, they were very needy appendages that needed my constant attention and maintenance.
So when the news broke that dance studios were beginning to reopen after the coronavirus closures, I couldn’t help but feel a mixture of relief and hope. Being in hard-hit New Jersey, we are one of the last states to open back up for business. My girls have been so excited for this day, and I can’t help but look forward to some alone time while they’re in class.
So you’ll have to forgive me if I can’t wait to drop them off. Mama needs some “me” time, so we’ll get there about two hours early. And I will probably slow down as they step out of the car, so no need for concern. Besides, I taught them to tuck and roll at an early age, so they’ll be fine.
