Delightful Dance Memes
Over the years, I’ve created dozens of memes that I share on my social media channels (mostly Facebook). While some are standalone articles here on the websites, others don’t have an accompanying story or other write-up. So I’ve placed a bunch of them in this collection! Feel free to share amongst your dance family!
Back It Down, Travis
During Super Bowl 24, Travis Kelce had a “passionate” outburst about being put in the game (so I hear). Coach Andy Reid’s face remained impassive, and it reminded me of a dance mom trying to keep her cool. Travis ended up winning the game with his team, and going home with Taylor Swift (so win-win).
In Search of Elbow Room
I honestly don’t know why I get so frustrated when dressing rooms become crowded at competitions. I should be used to these events being oversold! But with all the kids performing on the day of the grand line categories, I feel like I have to fight my way through the space just to find my child.
Can We Negotiate This?
Is it just me, or are the starting times for awards shows getting later and later? Before long, we’ll have to pack an overnight bag just to crash at the venue!
Diminishing Returns
Listen, I would like to think that I start a competition weekend with my “stuff” together. But by the end of the three (or more!) days, I look like a morning-after mug shot.
It’s Not What It Looks Like…Yes, It Is
Sometimes, you just need a mental break from slogging through the tedium at work. What better way than to relive some proud dance mom moments?!
“Called Out”
I remember first hearing the term “called out” when we were at a dance convention. An older dancer ran excitedly up to her mother and said, “I got called out!” when her class ended. In that moment, I realized that dance was one of the few places that being “called out” in was a positive thing!
Prepare Yourself
When Game of Thrones was all the rage back in the late 20-teens, the Ned Stark “Winter Is Coming” meme made its rounds on Facebook. But dance moms know that the same grim determination is necessary to get ready for another competition season!
Is It Over Yet?
I don’t know about you, but rehearsals seem to drag on and on. I’m sure it’s worse for the kids (you know, the ones doing the actual dancing). But an exhausted mom can only hope that she won’t have to wait too long.
Swiss Cheese or Dance Tights?
No matter how much I spend on dance tights, even the expensive ones wind up looking hole-y. No, not “sign of the cross” holy, full of holes. Experienced dance moms know the kids can wear knockoff brands that hold up just as well as the pricier ones, so save yourself some money.
A Toast to Us!
Ending with this one is a no-brainer! Raise your glass to celebrate yourselves and your dance mom tribe!
